Celebrating Scotland's voters

Scotland votes

The Scottish independence referendum took place on September 18, 2014. Scotland has shown us how democracy is supposed to work. About 97 percent of the population registered to vote. Little or no voter suppression. No news reporting about results while the voting is still going on.

As I listened to interviews of voters (on NPR and the BBC), both sides had reasonable arguments for voting one way or the other. No wingnut claims of anchor babies, FEMA concentration camps, the United Nations taking our guns, manic fear of Socialism, Stand Your Ground, health care death panels, Putin worship, attacks on religion, attacks on unions, fear of women, Pope Francis-haters, and the usual crap we find in U.S. politics.

I salute you, Scotland.
